Seventh Street Block Sale was a neighbourhood whirlwind 2013-06-04Well, Saturday was a whirlwind! Seventh Street East buzzed with activity and the neighbourhood put on a great show as 12+ vendors reported good results despite cool and rainy weather. The effort raised close to $600 for Sally Carmichael’s campaign to raise money for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in Ontario. And $50 was raised through Luminary Sales for the upcoming June 9 Canadian Cancer Society’s Revelstoke Relay for Life. Sally said logistical support from the City, RCU Insurance Services and Vic Van Isle was fantastic, The City swiftly approved the road closure and special event license Credit Union Insurances Service helped with insurance requirements and VVI provided road barricades. “RMR’s sound system added a nice touch and The Current, Stoke FM, The Stoke List and Wayside Printing all lent a hand with promotions,” Sally said. “Thank you!.” The fundraising goal of $2,500 for this event has been reached through friends and family and this great event. I am now packing my bike for Toronto and the 200 km Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer this weekend. She says she will send The Current pictures along the way! Hey, Sally, have a great ride!
