Paint-smearing vandal arrested

A local youth was arrested last Saturday for vandalizing five buildings and several vehicles with yellow and blue paint. According to RCMP Cpl. Thomas Blakney the youth, who may have had some confederates, painted “Grad 2013” and “Hi Grad 2013” as well as vulgar images, some type of signature and paint smears on a stop sign, the Community Centre, the Fire Hall, the RCMP detachment, the Post Office and Coopers. The acts of vandalism occurred in the pre-dawn hours. The youth was arrested that evening.“The RCMP are continuing to investigate these deliberate acts of vandalism and hold the culprit accountable,” Blakney said. “I would like to stress that this senseless act was caused by a few bad apples and certainly should not place a negative stigma or tarnish the graduating class of 2013.” Most of the graffiti, like this one scrawled on the RCMP detachment's garage door, has been painted over.
