Happy 101st Birthday, Kay

By David F. Rooney

Local seniors marked World Elder Abuse Awareness Day with their monthly birthday party for members one of whom, Kay Martin, turned 101 this month.

They were also treated to some poetry by Community Response Network volunteers Tuulikki Tennant and Peter Waters, as well as a draw for some CRN swag.

Here are a couple of photos from the party:

There was a heck of a nice birthday party at the Senior Citizens' Association on Wednesday. Among the many men and women who had birthdays in June was Kay Martin (center foreground) who turned 101 years of age on Thursday. Congratulations! David F. Rooney photo

They handed out purple irises and read some original poems to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Among other things the CRN promotes the maintenance of communities that are safe for vulnerable people. David F. Rooney photo
