It’s Screen Smart time again!
Here is the official schedule of events for the annual effort to show children there’s more to life than video games:
Saturday, May 25 from 10am to 11:30am
Screen Smart’s kick-off “Lego Creation Event” at the Railway Museum. Build at home then come and display at the museum for free admission and a chance at great Lego prizes!
Sunday, May 26 from 1pm to 2pm
Screen Smart’s “Scrabble Run” with the North Columbia Envrionmental Society. Meet at the Worker’s Memorial (the Inukshuk) by the greenbelt then run or walk a trail loop finding Scrabble pieces to build the best word you can. Parents welcome!
Monday, May 27 at 3:30pm
The Screen Smart “Run Bikes on the Greenbelt” by Skookum Cycle. Meet at the Worker’s Memorial (Inukshuk) with your parents.
Monday, May 27 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
The Screen Smart “Old Fashioned Family Picnic” by CBAL and the Revelstoke Child Care Society. Meet at Corner Stones (Begbie View Elementary) for free sandwiches and salads. You must register for this free event by calling 837-6669.
Tuesday, May 28 at 10am
The Screen Smart “Giggle, Sing and Swim” by CBAL. Admission is free for kids under 5 and their caregivers.
Tuesday, May 28 at 6pm
The Screen Smart “Junior Ride” with Skookum (for ages 7 to 14). Meet in front of Skookum Cycle with your helmet and bike.
Wednesday, May 29 at 3:30pm
The Screen Smart “Girls’ Cruiser Ride” by Skookum Cycle (for girls 12+)
Meet in front of Skookum Cycle with your bike and helmet for a great tour of downtown!
Wednesday, May 29 at 5:30pm
The Screen Smart “Games Night” at Okanagan Regional Library (for ages 7+). Come out for some great games and fun prizes. Parents are welcome!
Thursday, May 30 at 5:30pm
The Screen Smart “Teen Mountain Biking Intro” by Skookum Cycle (ages 13 to 19). Meet in front of Skookum Cycle with your bike and helmet for a fun trail ride! Parents are welcome!
Friday, May 31, 10am-6pm
The Screen Smart “Free Jungle Gym” at Sky Trek (ages 2 to 12). All participants must have a signed waiver (see www.skytrekadventurepark.com for a printable copy).
Friday, May 31, 9am to 5:30pm
The Screen Smart “Enchanted Forest” at the Enchanted Forest. Kids are free and adults are $10.
Friday, May 31 at 3:30pm
The Screen Smart “Kids Pedal the Greenbelt” by Skookum Cycle (ages 7 and under with their parents for supervision). Meet at the worker’s memorial (Inukshuk).
Sunday, June 2 from noon to 4pm
Parks Canada’s “Take a Kid Mountain Biking” for Screen Smart Week (ages 2 to 12). Pass on your passion for pedaling! Meet at the Nels Nelson Historic Area parking lot (at the base of Mount Revelstoke National Park).
