McHappy Day raised cash for Ronald McDonald House

By David F. Rooney

It’s hard to beat McHappy Day and all the folks who help make it happen. Here in Revelstoke, local Mounties, news media reps, business people, bankers and other all kicked in their time to don aprons and help out behind the counter at McDonalds on Wednesday.

“Together, we raised $5030.13 on McHappy Day,”  said Cathy Blakely in an e-mail to The Current on Thursday. “This will go towards building the new and bigger, Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver. Thanks for coming out again this year!”
McHappy Day is always a bit of a hoot. You get to wear an apron, smile a lot and help raise money by selling people small inexpensive items like sticky note cases and crazy straws — boy, those crazy straws were popular. I enjoy it and I don;t know anyone who hasn’t grinned their way through their one-hour shift at McDonalds.
Here are a photos from Wednesday morning:
You never know who you're going to meet when you walk in McDonald's Restaurant on McHappy Day. On Wednesday, Const. Shannon greeted diners and offered them chocolates or other small items for a small donation. Most patrons of the restaurant were happy to chip in and donate cash to the campaign, which raises money for Ronald McDonald Charities. David F. Rooney photo
