Two campers 10 kilometres south of Shelter Bay have stumbled across the remains of a man whose disappearance near 12 Mile last November left searchers baffled.

The BC Coroners Service has determined that the remains found on Sunday, May 5, are those of David Anthony Klammer of White Rock. Klammer  had left his parents’ Saskatchewan home on October 8 but was not reported missing until October 21 when he failed to materialize at his White Rock home.

Klammer’s car, a 2003 Subaru Imprezza, was found parked along a logging road near the end of Twelve Mile on Monday, Novemeber 5. Ten days earlier, on October 26, a backpack believed to belong to him, was found in the brush near Twelve Mile.

Local Search and Rescue teams searched the forests and mountainside near 12 Mile but found no sign of Klammer.

A statement from Cpl. Thomas Blakney said foul play is not suspected in Klammer’s death.
