Combine toe-tapping Indian-Celtic fusion dance music, a mouth-watering Indian buffet and the pleasure of supporting good causes and you have the ingredients of an unforgettable night out.
On Saturday, April 20, the Revelstoke Rotary Club is teaming up with Goldie Sanghera, owner of the popular Paramjit’s Restaurant, to provide an evening of dinner and dance at the Revelstoke Community Center.
The headline performers will be the internationally-acclaimed band Delhi 2 Dublin, described by Hour Magazine as “the United Nations of rock ‘n roll” and by another reviewer as “a super high energy mash-up of Bhangra, Celtic, Dub Reggae, Rock and Electronica with a dynamic blend of DJ beats and global rhythms.” Delhi 2 Dublin has played to packed houses at the Regent Pub several times.
The event will also feature dancing by Bartolo Armenteros, Revelstoke Dance Centre and Just for Kicks dance studio.
The event is a fundraiser to support two good causes. Half the money raised will support the Gharwali English Medium School (GEMS), an elementary school that provides free, quality education to low-income children in the beautiful village of Sainji, in Uttarkhand, Northern India.
The other half goes to Habitat for Humanity in Revelstoke as it adapts the home of Pauline and Simon Hunt and their children to meet Pauline’s upcoming health needs. Pauline is living with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs disease, a “progressive and debilitating disease that causes paralysis and requires costly patient care in its later stages,” according to the Home for the Hunts website. This project not only helps the Hunt family. It will allow Habitat for Humanity to support other low-income families in Revelstoke in the future.
Tickets are $35 for buffet dinner and dance. There will be a full bar, 50/50 draw, dessert auction and merchandise for sale. Doors open at 6 pm. Minors are welcome.
