Any member interested in helping organize that party should contact the credit union. The RCU has weathered the recession well. Roberta told members at the institution’s Annual General Meeting that besides its retained earnings of $10.6 million last year (up from $10.2 million in 2011) it had total assets of $163.3 million. The credit union continues to play an active and important role in community life. This past year it once again brought the popular Movie in the Park to Revelstoke, sponsored the RCU Grizzly Bear Run, provided crucial support to the Family-Friendly Workplace Awards and Children’s Charter, the Revelstoke Grizzlies, the Rick Hansen Awards and other events. On a side note, Cathy English noted that the first credit union in BC was begun 70 years ago by Revelstoke-born Father Leo Hobson and Walter Cavanaugh in Powell River. David F. Rooney photo
