Credit union’s Community Giving Program brings out people’s smiles

Revelstoke Credit Union Director Bill MacFarlane (right) handed out more than $30,000 worth of cheques to community groups during the RCU’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday evening. Here’s a list of the groups that received donations: Revelstoke Arts Council, $1,000; BC Summer Swim Association, $2,000; Bear Aware, $500; Canadian Avalanche Centre, $2,000; Selkirk Saddle Club, $1,000; Bike-to-Work Week, $500; Revelstoke Acrobats, $1,000; Community Band, $500; Early Childhood Development Committee, $2,500; Highland Pipe Band, $500; Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society, $500; Community Childcare Society, $500; Skating Club, $1,000; RSS, $1,500; Multicultural Society, $500; Museum & Archives, $500; Community Connections Food Bank, $3,000; Canine Search and Rescue, $500; Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy, $1,000; North Columbia Environmental Society, $500; Senior Citizens’ Association, $1,000; Community Connections Summer Day Camp, $2,000; RSS’s 2014 Ono Cho Exchange Program, $500; Revelstoke & District Humane Society, $500; Revelstoke Theatre Company, $2,000; Folk Music Society, $1,000; Revelstoke Ski Club, $1,000 and Bantam Hockey, $1,000. MacFarlane also handed the Vintage Car Club a cheque for $2,500 that came out of CEO Roberta Bobicki’s discretionary fund.
