Breaking ground for the new VIC

The  city's new Visitor Information Centre got off to a good start on Friday with the traditional earth-breaking ceremony (top) at Campbell Avenue and Victoria Road. Chamber of Commerce President Steve Bailey, CFDC Chairman Mike Cummings, Mayor Dave Raven, CBT Community Liaison Lynda LaFleur and the Revelstoke Land and Development Company representative Mike Hoffman. After they tossed a spade-full of earth each hey relinquished the site to the real earth movers (bottom image). The new VIC will cost about $1.23 million and may be completed as early as October.
