Universal Footwear owners Malcolm and Debbie Bott want to hear why children love Revelstoke. In fact, they’re offering some big prizes for the top essays or stories accompanied by illustrations.

“We did something like this a couple of years ago on the most active family in Revelstoke,” Malcolm said in an interview. “We think its a great way to reach out to children and get them thinking about the place where they live.”

The Botts are pretty serious about this and have put up $1,000 in cash prizes for the best submissions by young people between the ages of six and 17.

Submissions are being accepted April 1 until  May 20 at Universal Footwear.

Stories should be between 20 and 150 words and can include up to five illustrations. Each submission should be pasted onto an 18-inch by 24-inch poster board. Submissions will be displayed in the window at Universal Footwear.

And, of course, all submissions should be the children’s own work,
