Grizzlies organizing a playoff bus

The Revelstoke Grizzlies have organized a play-off bus to take fans to Sicamous this week and next for their playoff series against the Eagles, says the team’s volunteer business manager, Steve Smith.

“The bus will leave the Forum for Sicamous at 6 pm on February 22 and February 23,” he said.

Smith said the team struck a deal with the Sicamous Eagles’ General Manager Wayne March to use that team’s bus to ensure that as many Revelstokians as possible can attend the first two games of the series. The drive to Sicamous and back will cost $25 per person and will include the price of admission.

“We’e had a good season,” Smith said. “We played 52 games and have 58 points. We’re in third place in our division so we’d really like to encourage people to come to the playoffs. That’s especially important on February 25 and 26 which are not ideal nights.”

Those evenings are next Monday and Tuesday.

“We need to get as many people as possible out for the games,” he said. “The boy’s have been out playing for Revelstoke all season and deserve our support.”

Smith said the team was appreciative of all the support they have received with as many as 500 fans showing up for games this season. The team was especially thankful to “Jack at Selkirk Graphics and Roberta Bobicki, Todd Weber, Carol Hascarl and all the staff at the Revelstoke Credit Union,” he said.
