Dig deep and help the Bantam boys raise money to go to the Provincials

Don’t be surprised if you go to answer your door and find young boys offering to shovel your snow — they’re doubtless members of the Revelstoke Minor Hockey Association Bantam team.

“At this point the boys are the Bantam Tier 3 League champions and have a very good chance at making Provincial Championships,” Monica Olsen said in an e-mail to The Current.

“We just kind of want to get it out there that the boys will be fundraising over the next 5 weeks for Provincials.

“We are not yet certain that they are going to provincials, as we won’t know this until playoffs are over the first week of March. That will only give us two or three weeks to raise enough money to go so we must start now. If the boys do not go all the money raised will go back to Minor Hockey.

Monica said the Provincials are being held in Dawson Creek this year on spring break and the association will need to charter a bus and book hotel rooms.

“We have started our fundraising off with some shovelling and an in-house bottle drive, which has been going pretty well,” she said. “We really appreciate the reponse we have gotten for this, we have ads on the Stoke list and Revysell on Facebook.”

The boys will also be selling tickets for a raffle, so it you’d like to support our young hometown heroes please help them raise the money they need.
