Great spellers at AHE

Can you spell onomatopoeia? How about antidisestablishmentarianism? Or… zygote? These could be among the words that are challenging local students as our local elementary schools begin working towards the district-wide spelling bee in February.

Arrow Heights Elementary School held its school-wide bee on Friday and Columbia Park and Begbie View students will soon compete in their bees. If you enjoy words, language and writing then spelling bees will get your blood pumping.

In the meantime, here are two photos from the AHE bee:

These are our 12 top competitors for the AHE Spelling Bee that was held on January 25 in the school gym. (Back Row, left to right) Alice Dunkerson, Alana Brittin, Zoe Kramer, Beth Granstrom, Cameron McTagart, David Kline, Jaimie Reynolds. (Front Row, left to right) Emily MacLeod, Kaity Herle, Griffin Velichko, Grady Powell, and Amelia Brown. Amelia claimed first place at the bee. Photo and caption by Julian Corbett
