Thieves steal a safe — and more — from Salon Safari

On December 9, a resident on Second Street West reported the glass on his front door had been shattered sometime overnight. Investigation showed a chunk of ice had been thrown at the door, says a statement released Monday afternoon by the local RCMP detachment.

Staff Sgt. Jacquie Olsen said in the statement that a day earlier, police were called to a break enter and theft at the Salon Safari that had also occurred sometime overnight.

Investigation showed that access to the business was gained through the front door when an unknown person or persons destroyed the locking mechanism. A safe, a quantity of cash from the tip jar and an antique cash register were some of the items taken.

If anyone has any information as to the person or persons responsible for these crimes, they are asked to contact the local detachment at 250-837-5255 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
