Revelstoke comes into some new federal funding

The City is about to come into some new money — $95,149 in federal infrstaructure funding to make improvements to the Forum, the Aquatic Centre and the tennis courts.

MP David Wilks will make the formal announcement on behalf of the Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Lynne Yelich at the Aquatic Centre on Friday morning at 11 am.

“I am proud to see Revelstoke benefit from the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund,” he said in a statement. “This investment will help create jobs and growth, and will support the prosperity of the community for years to come.”

The planned series of renovations will include upgrading the Forum lighting system, converting the Aquatic Center to a chlorine-sanitization system, constructing a 400- square-foot storage room and resurfacing the tennis courts.

CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. About 46.2 million is being allocated to communities in Western Canada over the next two years by Western Economic Diversification Canada.
