MP unveils new funding for local municipal projects

MP David Wilks (center) dropped off something that is always welcome to Revelstoke’s civic leaders — money. The Conservative MP, posing here with Mayor David Raven, Councillors Gary Starling and Steven Bender and City Administrator Tim Palmer, announced — on behalf of Lynne Yelich, minister of state for Western Economic Diversification — $95,149 in federal funding for the Revelstoke Forum, Aquatic Centre and tennis courts under the federal government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF). Mayor Raven gladly accepted the funds. “We are pleased to accept the federal government’s investment in our City’s community and recreation facilities,” he said.. “This funding allows us to complete some necessary maintenance and upgrades that will further benefit our healthy and active community. The City of Revelstoke appreciates working with MP David Wilks and the Honourable Lynne Yelich in support of community goals.” David F. Rooney photo
