Farce-loving actors wanted!

The Revelstoke Theatre Company is holding auditions next week for its February 2013 production of It’s On, It’s Off by Ray Lawrence.

The Theatre Company is looking for two actors and four actresses. Auditions will be at the Powder Springs Inn on Wednesday, November 14, and Thursday, November 15, at 7 pm.

This two-act farce explores what happens when a bride-to-be’s parents invite her future mother-in-aw for dinner. Infidelity, illegitimate children and a case of mistaken identity all play a role in this play, which will be presented during the 2013 Spirit Fest.

Multicultural Society explores immigration from Scotland

The Revelstoke Multicultural Society is exploring immigration from Scotland on Wednesday evening through the medium of film and the experiences of Revelstoke residents who made the big move across the pond.

The society will be showing A Land as Green as the Sea, one of the episodes of the acclaimed A Scattering of Seeds series at 7 pm.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion of Scottish Immigration featuring Alan Mason and Margaret Pacaud.

BC Liberal candidate on RCTV this week

Doug Clovechok, the BC Liberal Party candidate is the guest on this week’s In Conversation program on RCTV’s Channel 6.

Clovechok, a former teacher who lives in Fairmont Hot Springs, has been a frequent visitor to Revelstoke over the last year and is now beginning to ramp-up his campaign to become Columbia River-Revelstoke’s next MLA.

Whether he can beat incumbent Norm Macdonald remains to be seen.

Provincial Columbia River Treaty consultation planned for November 20

The province is hosting eight consultation sessions, including one in Revelstoke, regarding the Columbia River Treaty this month.

The Revelstoke session will be held on Tuesday, November, 20 at the Community Centre. It will consist of an Open House from 6 until 6:30 pm, followed by a presentation and discussion from 6:30 until 9 pm. Click here to learn more about the treaty.

Other sessions are being held in Jaffray, Creston, Golden, Valemount, Nelson, Trail and Nakusp. Click here to find details about those session.

The Columbia River Treaty Local Governments’ Committee (LG Committee), formed in 2011, are working with Columbia Basin Trust to help ensure Basin residents and elected officials alike understand what’s at stake with the Columbia River Treaty. The LG Committee intends to work collaboratively on this important issue with regional MLAs and elected officials in Victoria, as well as regional MPs.

Get your Revelstoke photos on Global TV

Global TV Meteorologist Wesla Wong is inviting Revelstoke residents to submit photos of the community for use on the network’s regular Small Town BC feature.

“We are going to highlight Revelstoke in our Small Town BC feature this coming Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, on Global BC’s Sunday Morning News,” she said in an e-mail.  “Anyone is welcome to send in photos of the Revelstoke community and area to this email address: weekendnews@globaltv.com. Please also send a brief description of your photo and keep the photos between 200 KB and 4 MB in size. We will show some of these photos on TV during our show!”
