Got a question for Premier Christy Clark?
Send it to Peter Bernacki. He is one of five local BC Liberal delegates attending the BC Liberal Open Convention at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler on October 26 and 27.
“I’m very impressed with the way she is handling herself,” he said of the premier in an interview. “And I think she’s doing her best for the province.”
Bernacki has met Clark a number of times and is confident that she will meet with him and the other four Revelstoke delegates — George and Bea Buhler, and Nick and Ashley Soberly.
“I think she likes to hear from people in small towns,” said Bernacki who is the Revelstoke-based vice-president of the party’s riding association.
Lord knows she probably hears plenty from the Lower Mainland.
“If we don’t speak up about our concerns who’s going to do that? Norm (Macdonald, the New Democratic Party MLA for Columbia River-Revelstoke) is a nice guy and all but how often does he get to talk to her about us?”
Bernacki said Doug Clovechok, the party’s candidate in next year’s election, and his wife Susan will also be attending the convention and will promote local interests and issues.
“We need people like Doug in government,” Bernacki said. “He’s a sharp guy.”
He noted that Clovechok has been to Revelstoke several times in the course of this year and will be back here on November 2.
