Knights of Pythias prove they’re wheely generous

The Knights of Pythias are well known locally for their generosity. When groups need financial assistance they are always willing to pitch in, as they did Thursday when they purchased a $2,000 wheelchair for the Aquatic Centre. Aquatic Centre Manager Karen Scott (center) and Mayor David Raven were on hand for the presentation by Knights Paul Daley (left) Bill Straga, Doug Hamilton (resting his bones in the chair) and Kevin Coulter. Karen said the donation comes just as the Aquatic Centre’s old wheelchair packed it in. “We’ve been trying to get a new one for three years,” she said. “Some of the people who use the pool need it to access the water. People can just go right into the water (down a ramp into the wading pool area) with it.” David F. Rooney photo
