Zoning bylaw for CSRD’s Area B receives support

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s electoral area directors are supporting a draft zoning bylaw for Area B and have recommended that it be forwarded to the CSRD Board for first reading in July.

The proposed bylaw is a follow-up to the Electoral Area B Official Community Plan (OCP) and will provide land use regulations for the entire electoral area.

Electoral Area B Zoning Bylaw No. 851 is proposed as a replacement to Rural Revelstoke Land Use Bylaw No. 2200, which was adopted in 1988 and covers only a portion of Area B.

Following first reading, the draft bylaw will go to the Advisory Planning Committee in late July for review and then to the public in August. There are two open houses proposed for August 7 (one in Revelstoke and one in Trout Lake) to present the first draft and to obtain feedback from the public. After any necessary amendments are made, the bylaw will be sent out for First Nations and agency review. Further amendments may be made once agency comments are received.

After the referral process is completed, the draft bylaw will come back to the Board for consideration of second reading as amended.
