David Raven named as CSRD chairman

No vote was required as Revelstoke Director David Raven was handed the position of Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Board Chairman by acclamation.

Two names were put forward for the Vice Chair, and after the ballots were counted, Area ‘E’ Director Rhona Martin was elected as vice-chairwoman.

Byelection date selected for the late Ted Bacigalupo

The Board approved the timeline proposed by staff for the Electoral Area ‘C’ By-Election to replace the late Area ‘C’ Director and CSRD ChairmanTed Bacigalupo.

Carolyn Black was appointed as Chief Election Officer and the general voting day is slated for Saturday, September 29th. The Notice of Nomination period begins on July 27 and nomination papers will be available.

The actual nomination period begins on August 14 and ends on August 24. Advance voting days take place September 19 and September 25.

Grants-in-aid approved for Area ‘B’ groups

Board approved the following grant-in-aid requests:

Area ‘B’

Revelstoke Golf Club Society, $1,000; Trout Lake Volunteer Fire Department, $3,230; Revelstoke Community Foun-dation, $5,000.

Area ‘C’

Shuswap Community Foundation, $1,000; Tappen/Sunnybrae Volunteer Firefighter’s Association $3,000; Car-lin & District Recreation Association, $12,093.

Area ‘F’

Imai Park Foundation, $5,000

Area ‘B’ EOF funding APPROVED FOR REVY RIDERS

The Board approved the use of Economic Opportunity Funds for the Revy Riders Dirt Bike Club and the Visitor Information Centre. The Dirt Bike Club will use the $50,000 to build additional trails at their club facility on Westside Road, north of Revel-stoke and $100,000 will be used to help cover the construction costs of a new Visitor Information Centre.

Area ‘B’ Zoning Open Houses on August 9 in Revelstoke and Trout Lake

The Board gave first reading to Electoral Area ‘B’ Zoning Bylaw No. 851. In late July it will be referred to the Area ‘B’ Advisory Planning Commission.

Open houses will be held at the Revelstoke Recreation Centre and Trout Lake Community Hall on August 9.
