Mark Kingsbury Bridge inaugurated

Mayor David Raven addresses the crowd that gathered at the new pedestrian bridge for the structure’s official inauguration. The span across the old CPR abutments was built and installed with more than $735,000 in grant money. Not a dime of local taxpayers’ money was used to build the structure, which was thrown across the Illecillewaet this winter. David F. Rooney photo
Mayor David Raven and Marion Kingsbury unveiled the plaque that names the bridge as the Mark Kingsbury Memorial Bridge. Kingsbury was a pioneer of the heliskiing industry who worked to diversify Revelstoke’s economy. The foundation created after his death helped bankroll the structure, which was erected on the old CPR abutments across the Illecillewaet River. David F. Rooney photo
