The North Columbia Environmental Society is giving away nine “beautifully tuned and refurbished commuter bikes.”
There’s a catch, of course: You have to write a 300-word story to convince them that you are worthy to receive one.
“Send us a story stating why you need a bike — creativity is encouraged,” it said in a statement. “You must include your name, age, height (for bike sizing), email and phone number. If you are applying for someone else with social and/or economic barriers please, identify as such.”

You must be available to pick up your bike on June 2, 2012.
The Commuter Bike Giveaway is a very popular annual contest sponsored by the NCES.
