An unusual crime for Revelstoke… can you help solve this?

At approximately 4:30 pm on May 21, a lone female was sitting alone in a wooded area near the Illecillewaet river. She was approached by an unknown male on a white bicycle. After a brief conversation the male requested a cigarette reaching for her purse. A brief struggle ensued and he departed the area with her belongings. She received some minor bruising during the incident.

Search of the area resulted in finding some of her property.

The male is described as approximately 40 years old, slim build, 180 cm tall, short stubbly beard, wearing a white “Nike” shirt, black jacket, black pants and wearing a black Kangol-style hat.

This is a very unusual type of offence for Revelstoke, and although the police believed this to be a random crime of opportunity, the public is reminded to always beware of your surroundings and to report anything suspicious.

At approximately 4:30 pm on May 14th, a young cyclist was struck on while biking on Boyle Ave., at Victoria Road, in Revelstoke. A young lady with shoulder length dark hair was operating a black pickup truck when she struck the young man at the intersection. The boy was able to make his way

home where he was taken to and treated at Queen Victoria Hospital for some soft tissue damage in the back and hip area. The bike received minor damage and was repaired.

This young lady did not stop after the collision and there is a possibility that she was unaware that a collision had occurred.

Police are asking that if you know of this young lady, witnessed the accident or maybe you are a young lady with a dark pickup truck that was in the area at the time, to please contact the Revelstoke RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS.
