The Revelstoke Grizzlies are going, going…

By David F. Rooney

Mike Roberts and other owners of the Revelstoke Grizzlies are moving the team out of Revelstoke to 100 Mile House.

In a letter to the news media on Tuesday he said they have  “applied to have the franchise relocated and sold to the 100 Mile House Wranglers.”

“The relocation and sale is subject to the KIJHL Board of Governors’ approval at the meeting slated for May 6,” Roberts said in the letter.

He blames dclining “corporate support and ticket sales… over the past three years and operating  the franchise at a significant deficit each year for the past three years has resulted in this difficult decision to sell and ultimately relocate.”

“We, as an ownership group, tried effortlessly to come up with a solution to keep the team in Revelstoke; however, there are no justifiable reasons to operate ANY business at a per annum loss and it has become unrealistic to expect that it should; especially during these difficult economic times,” Roberts said.

Members of the Revelstoke Grizzlies Society were not immediately available for comment.
