Radiothon cracks the $11,000 barrier

"Thursday was a busy day for our 2012 Radiothon at EZ Rock,” said DJ Steve Smith. “Revelstoke’s goal was to raise a record $15,000 for a Glidscope (a medical device used with patients who are difficult to intubate) for Queen Victoria Hospital. We came close with a record fundraising day of $11,554. This is a record for the Revelstoke area after 45 years of the station operating and the last three years of over $10,000 consistently raised. The Hospital Auxillary made a major presentation of $2,000 (shown here with (from the left) Hospital Foundation Director Steven Hui, QVH Nursing Coordinator Deena Crane, Auxiliary Vice President Margaret Zielonka, Auxiliary Secretary Edye Kermack and Auxiliary Second VP Cheryl Fry (that’s her talking on-air with EZ Rock’s Ron Langridge). The Knights of Pythias gave $1,000, Vic Van Isle Group and Glacier Building Supplies donated $750 and other businesses and individuals consistently gave, too. The money is still rolling in. We had donations from corporate sponsors (Rev Pharmasave, RONA/Vic Van Isle Construction, Revelstoke Florists, Sierra Stone LTD, Regent Inn, Hillcrest Hotel, Trukars, Sears Revelstoke, Emo’s Restaurant and Tim Hortons) and more. “ All in all it touched Smith deeply. “Thanks to all,” he said. “I’m just so proud to live here.” David F.
