Find some time at 5 pm to catch the Rick Hansen Relay ceremony

The Rick Hansen Relay marking the 25th anniversary of his amazing Man in Motion World Tour comes to Revelstoke at 5 pm on Tuesday (April 10).

There’s a lineup of local athletes young and old who will relay the official medal commemorating Hansen’s original around-the-world tour. They include Chris Ball, Kendra Blakely, Talia Camozzi, Pauline Hunt, Raine Carnegie, Dzidra Gallicano, Simon Brittin, Scott Guthrie, Maria Speerbrecker, Kees Vandermeer, Drew Desrosier, Emily Suchy, Laura Deslaurier, Gina Cinelli, Todd Hicks, Kitt Redhead and Jonah Deschamps.

The local portion of the relay will begin at 4:07 when the first relayer will leave McDonalds bound for Grizzly Plaza and the official festivities. Former Mayor Mark McKee will be the local Master of Ceremonies. These include an appearance by Ronald McDonald, a performance by the High School Jazz Band and a concession by Team Gloria.

Here’s the schedule for the rest of the day’s event:

5:00 — The final medal bearer, Drew Desrosiers, will enter the Plaza;

5:02 — Drew Desrosier will be introduced to the crowd;

5:04 — McKee will introduce Acting Mayor Linda Nixon and other dignitaries;

5:06 — The Rick Hansen Relay organizers are introduced;

5:08 — A medal will be presented to the community;

5:10 — Sharon Shook will sing O Canada;

5:13 — Final thank you by Mark McKee; and

6:00 — Final wrap up.
