National Forest Week is all about celebrating our forests and what they mean to us. National Forest Week was from September 18 to 24.  The Interior Lumber Manufacturers’ Association offered a contest to students in grades K to 12.

Mrs. Thompson’s 4/5 class at Arrow Heights Elementary School all participated in this contest.  They wrote poems about what the forest means to them. Grade 4 student Cameron McTaggart won 3rd place with his poem, “A Forest of Love”.  He personally won 30 dollars, and he was awarded 50 dollars to spend on supplies for his classroom.  Mrs. Thompson and Cameron are going to work together to choose supplies.

Congratulations Cameron, on your outstanding hard work and effort.  It really paid off.
