An 18-year-old local woman is dead after a late Thursday afternoon on Highway 97A about 20 kilometres south of Sicamous, Sgt. Kim Hall of the Revelstoke RCMP said Friday.
The young woman was the passenger in a mid-size vehicle when the driver lost control at about 4:30 pm and slid south into the path of a Suburban whose driver tried desperately to avoid her but nonetheless struck the passenger side of the car.
“All four people in the two vehicles were taken to Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm,” Hall said.
The identities of all four people have not been released.
