The annual CP Rail Holiday Train rolled into Revelstoke a little late on Wednesday but to the heart-warming cheers of a nonetheless enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of Revelstokians young and old.

The train rolled into the yard about 30 minutes later than planned  bearing performers Tracey Brown, Valdy and a $4,000 cheque for the Community Connections’ Food Bank that was accepted by the agency’s Outreach Services Manager Patti Larson.

As well, most of the people present either brought food and other in-kind donations, cash or purchased hot chocolate, coffee or hot dogs grilled by local firefighters. This year, the money from those sales and donations amounted to about $1,500 and more than 500 lbs of food was collected at the event — that’s about double what was raised at last year’s Holiday Train event.
