No one wants to see their neighbors or family members go hungry, and yet there are some persistent misconceptions about how Community Connections Food actually works.
Please help us to spread the word and let’s dispel the rumors about our food bank!
Can anyone come to the food bank?
All clients of the food bank must go through a detailed screening process. We require identification, proof of residence and proof of income from each and every client. We do everything in our power to ensure our services are being used fairly.
Only lazy people with no jobs get food from the food bank.
The food bank provides an emergency food service to those who demonstrate a genuine need. We serve a very diverse cross section of people in the community including seniors, single parents, people with disabilities and those that are working poor.
The food bank receives funding from the government.
We do not receive any core funding from the municipal, provincial or federal government for any part of our programs.
