Jake Gericke passed away on September 20, 2011 at the all-too-young age of nine. We miss him greatly and he will remain in our hearts now and forever. A Celebration of Life Service was held on September 24, 2011, at the Alliance Church officiated by Pastor Matthew Carter.
Jake was born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 6, 2002. Jake was a happy, fun-loving boy who loved to laugh. His smile always greeted every morning and touched everyone around him. He wasn’t the perfect little boy just your usual, beautiful nine-year old boy full of character, using his shirts for superman capes and couches for ninja karate moves. We’ll always remember his sweet face when he slept and his boundless energy for riding bikes and dirt jumping, playing soccer and snowboarding.

A mother’s message —
I am with you still — I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone –
I am with you still – in each new dawn.
I am the song that will never end.
I am the love of family and friend.
I am the child who has come to rest
In the arms of the Father who knows him best.
