Vandalism! Explosive devices! — sounds like Kabul, not Revy

On Sept. 8 police executed a search warrant in the 1900 block of Malcolm Road seizing a small indoor marijuana grow-operation of about 65 plants. There was also 5 lbs of dried product seized. A 42-year-old male and a 37-year-old female will appear in Provincial Court in December on charges of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Then on Sept, 14 Police and fire officials were kept busy overnight with a rash of vandalism and arson complaints. At approx. 3 a.m. police received a report of vandalism in the 800 block of 3rd St. W. Police learned that two youths were observed running over top of a vehicle. The 2007 Kia Spectra sustained damage in the form of a large dent on the roof.

The suspects were described as wearing black hoodies.

While the officer was investigating the above complaint he heard what he believed to be a small explosion. The officer investigated and found that the box of a 2005 Nissan Frontier pickup truck to be fully engulfed in flames. The Fire department attended and put the fire out.

Three dumpsters were also set ablaze overnight. The dumpsters located at Mount Begbie brewery, Chalet bakery and Mountainview Elementary School were damaged in what police are calling senseless and very dangerous acts.

Police continue to investigate and asking for the assistance of the public in identifying the suspects who are only described as wearing black hoodies. If anyone has any information about these crimes they are asked to call the detachment or to remain anonymous they can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 TIPS (8477) or online at www.bccrimestoppers.com.
