One local dead, one injured and a third under arrest after 12 Mile rollover

A single-vehicle rollover on Airport Way near the 12-Mile Flats on Thursday night has left one local man dead, another one injured and the driver under arrest.

A statement from RCMP Cpl. Rod Weibe said the accident occurred at about 11:18 pm.

“A 22-year-old male passenger from Revelstoke was killed when the Ford pickup truck he was riding in went off the road and rolled into the ditch,” the statement said “The 22-year-old driver, also from Revelstoke was taken into custody and charges of Impaired Driving Causing Death and Driving over .08 are being recommended.  Another passenger who was in the vehicle was not injured in the crash.”

The incident is under investigation by Trans-Canada East Traffic Services and the RCMP’s collision analyst.

The names of the people involved in this accident were not released.
