Mary Niba Beruschi passed away at Mt. Cartier Court Extended Care, Revelstoke on Monday, September 5th, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Prayers will be recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday evening, September 15 at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.
Mary was born in Kamloops, B.C. on May 8, 1921 and had been a resident of Revelstoke for over 70 years. She was a piano teacher for more than 32 years, and always loved to be around children. Mary was very dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church having played the organ for most church functions for over 50 years. After graduating high school, Mary attended St. Ann’s Academy in Kamloops, studying Commerce. She then attended St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Victoria for four years and graduated as a R.N. for the operating room. Mary also delivered the Vancouver Sun newspaper to local customers for 32 years. Many will remember Mary as “the essence of a lady.” She was very social and loved visiting with others and having lunch with her family and friends at the “112”. Mary was a very kind and loving wife and mother.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her brother Raymond and her beloved husband Pierre. She is survived by three children: Maureen Beruschi (Carlo Rogano) of Revelstoke, David (Lorraine) Beruschi of Revelstoke and Anthony (Vanessa) Beruschi of Vancouver; two grandchildren: Benjamin of Revelstoke and Theodora of Vancouver; nephews: Reg of Kamloops, Brian of Vancouver, Clyde of Kamloops, Bruce of Nanaimo, Ronnie of Australia and Freddie of Revelstoke; nieces: Sharon of Kamloops, Jo-Anne of Vernon, Sharon and Jane, both of Kelowna.
