Leg-hold traps removed from coyote hunting ground

Conservation Officer Adam Christie has removed the traps he had placed along the Illecillewaet River area near the Equestrian Grounds in the wake of the coyote attack on Angie Threatful and her dog, Wrinkles.

He told The Current the snares  and the warning signs he had erected were removed late Friday afternoon and dog owners can now walk their pets in the area without fear of the traps.

The threat from coyotes, however, remains.

Christie had trapped and killed two of the clever predators, but not the large coyote bitch that had attacked Threatful and her pet. Other  coyotes likely remain. The animals operate in family groups of between four and six animals.
