12 Milers enjoy a reunion

Former 12-Mile residents gathered at the home of Bill and Ada (Domke) Jarvis for the annual 12 Mile Potluck last week. They renewed their friendships and swapped stories about the past and the present. In his blog (at http://www.corbettmountain.blogspot.com/), Eugen described the event: "About 20 folks came this year, many from the local area but others from Sicamous, Vernon, Kelowna and White Rock. Since it was a potluck, there was plenty of food. Ethnic food. Russian, Ukrainian, German, and some Canadian and US food as well. Vereniki, Borsch, Cuhan sp? Fresh bread etc. OY! These folks are good friends from long ago. We share a common heritage of homesteading, logging, farming, and saw milling. Our parents came to the Columbia valley south of Revelstoke when it was raw forest, brush, (aka bush) Devil clubs, swamp and mosquitoes." Photo courtesy of Eugen Domke
