Second Annual Golf Fore The Cure Tournament should be lots of fun

Dressing up is half the fun at the annual Golf Fore The Cure Tournament, as the 2010 Beach Babes — Suzie Cameron, Michelle Nagy, Cassy Nagy and Carolyn McStay — clearly demonstrated at last year's event. Perhaps this year's fun-loving competitors will include a guy or two — in drag, of course! Revelstoke Current file photo

Got some friends with a yen to play a game of golf for a really good cause and lots of fun? If you do and you’re female (or even a bunch of guys willing to cross-dress for a day) you should sign up for the Second Annual Golf Fore The Cure Tournament at the Revelstoke Golf Club on August 21.

“We’re looking for 18 teams of five ladies each,” says Michelle Nagy, one of the organizers of this year’s event. “Four of them will be ladies looking for fun. They don’t even have to be good golfers or even know how to golf. The fifth member of each team will be one of the members of the club’s Ladies Team to provide some tips and guidance.”

Nagy said Thursday that the $45 entrance fee — the deadline for entries is August 14 — includes a round of golf, a free putting clinic, dinner and a lot of fun — plus a chance to win the $5,000 hole-in-one prize.

Participants are encouraged to dress up and let loose and while this is a women-oriented event guys willing to — ah — dress the part would be welcome on a women’s team.

“Maybe we’ll issue a challenge to the men of Revelstoke,” Nagy laughed.

There will be a lot of different prizes, including the big one for a  hole in one. Nagy said she and other organizers are canvassing local businesses for prizes and gifts.
