A wee change to the Friends’ steam train trip next week…

There have been changes to the 2816 Empress Steam Train Trip on July 15.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2816 Empress Steam Engine will not be in a position to travel for community events in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Canadian Pacific’s  heritage fleet consisting of vintage coach cars and a heritage diesel engine will still travel from Revelstoke to Golden next Friday. Tickets sales will benefit the Children’s Wish Foundation and the Friends of Mount Revelstoke & Glacier.

“While it is disappointing that the Empress is not available for this trip we are excited to have one of Canadian Pacific’s heritage diesel engines to take her place,” said Neills Kristensen, executive director of the Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.  “I believe everyone will enjoy views of Glacier National Park from this train as much as they would have from the empress. Because the experience will be different than advertised we have decided to drop ticket prices to $125.00 per ticket, per person and provide refunds to those who have already purchased tickets.”

This year marks the 125th anniversary of Glacier National Park and this ride from Revelstoke to Golden allows passengers to step back in time and travels through the park as others did in years past.
