Provincial mine rescue competitions held here this week

Looking for something new and different this week? Drop by the Community Centre, Centennial Park and the Snowmobile Clubhouse on Powerhouse Road to watch mine rescue teams from across BC compete in an annual set of events.

Every year, there is a competition for mine safety and first aid teams from around the province to compete in realistic tasks designed to test their emergency response and rescue abilities. This competition brings together mine rescue teams to compete in tasks designed to test their skills in first aid, extrication, fire fighting, rope work and general mine rescue knowledge. Teams compete in either surface, underground or first aid competitions.

This year the North, Central and South Zone Competitions are being held at 1495A Powerhouse Road from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 9, and on Saturday, June 11, you can catch the provincial competitions at the Community Centre from 8 am until 5 pm.
