The Revelstoke Cycling Association’s Wednesday Night Mt. Bike Racing presented by Arrow Helicopters enjoyed a great turnout.

The race, the second of the season, saw a huge field of 37 racers enjoy a sweet singlet rack descending down Berm Donor and Dusty Beaver. It seemed like everyone was left with a big grin on their faces after each downhill. Racers also got a chance to test their mettle against one of the top riders in the world as 2010 Cross Country Mountain Bike World Champion Catherine Pendrel took part. Very cool!

The Lemans running start was likely a different experience for her however she soon took the lead and sped off the front leading the pack from start to finish. Brendan MacIntosh led the men’s field after the first lap but Lee English finished strong and passed him on the second lap to take his second win of the season. Bart Jarmula rounded out the men’s podium. Despite feeling under the weather Melanie Bernier comfortably finished second ahead of Sarah Newton on the women’s side.

With his strong performance Lee has taken a big lead in the men’s overall series standings while Sarah is just ahead of Melanie in the women’s standings. (Check the website for details.)

Thanks again to our sponsors for the great draw prizes! See you all at the next race June 22.
