Young Sarah has the championship touch

Kayla Fenwick placed second (runner-up) in the BC Provincial Junior Handling Competition for the BC / Yukon Zone Finals. The competition was held at the Renaissance Dog Show in Chilliwack this past weekend. To qualify for the finals, Kayla had to rank in the top four in her zone and division - intermediate novice - for the 2010 season. She also competed in the BC Provincial Gymnastics / Tumbling Championships the same weekend in Langley and placed 6th in BC in the double-mini. It was a busy weekend from start to finish. Kayla has been handling dogs since she was. Not only does she train her own show dogs for the ring, but she was also hired by Melissa Anderson of Revelstoke to teach Cleo, an eight-month-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, her show ring manners. Cleo went on to take Best of Winners at the dog show this weekend earning five points, the most points a dog can earn in one dog show. Kayla's male Golden Retriever also managed to finish this weekend earning his Canadian Championship. To Revelstokians, this means that in the very near future you may not have to leave Revelstoke to acquire a purebred Golden Retriever or Rhodesian Ridgeback as both Kayla and Melissa hope to breed their dogs locally.
