A special thank you to volunteers

“Volunteers are ordinary people who reach out and take a hand and together make a difference that lasts a lifetime.”

I would like to take this opportunity during National Volunteer Week (April 10 – 16, 2011) to thank the volunteers involved in the Volunteer Programs sponsored by the City of Revelstoke and the Revelstoke Seniors Center.  We have a group of very dedicated volunteers who give of their time to drive individuals in our community to out of town medical appointments; make ‘Good Morning’ phone calls to shut-in or vulnerable individuals; and teach our seniors computer skills.  I am extremely grateful to each of them – they are the reason our programs are successful.

These volunteers are ordinary people with extraordinary hearts.  They offer the gift of their time to teach, to listen, to help, to inspire.  They expect no pay, yet the value of their work knows no limits.

I look forward to continue working with these caring volunteers and encourage new volunteers who may be interested in helping the people of our community.

Thank you – Volunteer Drivers, Good Morning Volunteers and Volunteer Computer Tutors – the gifts of your time and talents are truly appreciated.
