In Pictures: Dress Red Day

Last Friday’s Dress Red Day — the annual Heart and Stroke Foundation fundraiser — was a great success with over 260 people participating at businesses across the city. The last tally at 5 pm Friday was over $2,900 in donations to this event.

Steven Hui and Randy Driediger were very appreciative of the generosity and enthusiastic response from everyone who participated. This year’s event was dedicated to former organizer Jim Holdener who passed away last spring, ironically of a heart attack.

I had the pleasure of strolling around town on Friday with Steven and Randy, visiting different businesses and taking pictures of everyone who was, well, dressed in red.

Here’s a selection of photos from Dress Red Day:

Last week's Dress Red campaign was dedicated to the memory of Jim Holdener, as this sign at the Revelstoke Credit union attests. If you were in the Credit Union on Friday your probably saw it and may even have enjoyed one of these cupcakes. Newcomers to Revelstoke may not have known Jim. The rest of us certainly did and miss him greatly. David F. Rooney photo

Of course, the staff at Home Hardware are always dressed in red, but even so the most-dressed-red person for the day was Bonnie Thiessen wearing the red night robe, red shirt and hat for the day. David F. Rooney photo
