Sean Cochrane encourages support for local talent at Canadian Freeskiing Championships 2011-01-05 More than 85 people packed into Mackenzie’s Restaurant at the Powder Springs Inn Tuesday evening to hear local freeskiing competitor Sean Cochrane speak about the Canadian Freeskiing Championships starting at Revelstoke Mountain Resort this Thursday. Projecting a picture from last year’s final venue at RMR, Cochrane explained what freeskiing is all about and how it is judged. His passion for the sport was revealed through the anecdotes he shared from his experiences skiing and competing. “You have to want to do it really bad,” he said. “The biggest reward coming out of it — just being a better skier than I was before; absolutely 100 percent.” The men’s and women’s freeskiing qualifier starts Thursday, with Day One of competition commencing on Friday.
