1910 avalanche committee receives prestigious award

The 1910 Rogers Pass Snow Slide Commemoration Committee has won the 2010 Museums in Motion Award of Merit from the BC Museums Association, the Friends of Mount Revelstoke & Glacier said in a statement on Monday. This award is given to an individual, institution or agency for a recent outstanding, innovative, or creative achievement in the museum, art gallery, archives or heritage filed in British Columbia. The 1910 committee was a collaboration of organizations in the community including: Friends of Mount Revelstoke & Glacier, Revelstoke Museum and Archives, Revelstoke Railway Museum, Parks Canada, the Canadian Avalanche Association, the Canadian Avalanche Centre, Canadian Pacific, the City of Revelstoke and members at large including Dr. John Woods, Yuko and Tomoaki Fujimura, and Roy Inouye. A local presentation will be done on Monday, November 15, during the speaker series at Mackenzie’s Restaurant in the Powder Springs Hotel, located at 200 Third Street West.
