Water in motion

The Thanksgiving Day sunshine impelled a lot of people outdoors, including me. While some went ATVing, bicycling or hiking, others went mushroom picking or out to enjoy the scenic beauty of our landscape.

I spent the afternoon at the Alkokolex River gorge and Moses Creek. Here are a few images from that pleasant and relaxing outing:

Although the Alkolkolex River gorge was filled with fast-running water, it is frequently quite dry at this time of year. But wet or dry it is a very dangerous place to be. The bare rock floor of the gorge is extremely slippery. David F. Rooney photo

The stepped waterfall at Moses Creek is quite lovely at almost any time of year. David F. Rooney photo
The gravel bars in the mouth of Moses Creek, which is just south of the Revelstoke Dam, was teeming with scores of bright red Kokanee this weekend. All of them frantically doing the dance of procreation. David F. Rooney photo
