Police pop pot plantations

Thanks to tips received from the general public Revelstoke RCMP managed to dismantle two outdoor marijuana grow operations over the week end.

A statement said the first plantation was located on Friday, October 1  up the Gorge Creek Forest Service Road near Malakwa.  With the assistance  of an RCMP helicopter, a team of officers were flown into the remote location.  They seized 866 mature marijuana plants and a shotgun.

The second operation was located south of town near the Shelter Bay Ferry terminal on October 3. This time police seized 233 plants.

Police have no suspects in either matter.  Had these two seizures made it to the street it would have been enough marihuana to supply every man, woman and child in Revelstoke with over 50 joints each.
