Opposition Critic for Agriculture and MLA for Saanich South Lana Popham will be visiting Revelstoke on Monday, October 18 to participate in a sustainability forum at the Revelstoke Community Centre.
“I am looking forward to Lana’s visit to Revelstoke,” said Columbia River – Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald. “Over the last number of years I have seen a rising interest in Revelstoke in developing food security within the community, and I know that Lana has a lot to offer based on her experiences as an organic farmer and a proponent of sustainable principles.
“Lana has been in the Legislature since 2009, and in that time she has been able to bring her passion and her farming experience on Vancouver Island to the whole province in her role as Agriculture critic.”
Popham and Macdonald will both be speaking at a forum called ‘Embracing the principles of Sustainable BC’ at 7 PM at the Revelstoke Community Centre.
Sustainable BC, developed by a group of British Columbians committed to an ecologically and economically sustainable future for our province, is based on 12 principles which include food security, protection of the ‘commons’ and the promotion of democracy.
The forum will include an opportunity for attendees to provide their ideas about how best to apply these principles to provincial policy, local governance, and in our personal lives.
“I know this is an issue that the people of Revelstoke care about, and I anticipate having some quality discussions about how best to put these principles to work.”
